KU engineering students are creating a vehicle that can get 500 miles per gallon of gas. The group has taken on a 1974 Super Beetle. The project is part of a class called Design Project Option E, taught by Chris Depcik, assistant professor of mechanical engineering.

This month, KU graduate student Anthony Hoch will fly to the West Antarctic Ice Sheet to determine its precise depth. The ice sheet could contribute one day to a boost in ocean levels worldwide, and Hoch's reseach could help predict what that means for the planet.
